The second tunnel is a bat conservation zone, where visitors must proceed quietly and avoid flash photography. Staff are present to guide visitors through this area for the start of the cycling route, where they can enjoy riding through the tunnel. New Shared Bikes at the Ready! YouBike 2.0E Provides a Better Long-Distance Experience!

If you have rented a YouBike 2.0 recently, you may have noticed the distinctive white and orange color scheme. With growing environmental awareness and a trend toward healthier lifestyles, shared bikes are now a popular choice for city commutes and short-distance travel. Starting in late August 2024, Taipei and New Taipei launched YouBike 2.0E electric-assist bikes! These bikes are ideal for long-distance trips and provide a comfortable riding experience, especially for seniors, with plans to expand them to major tourist destinations. Here’s a guide to using them:

The YouBike 2.0E stands out with its electric-assist system, powered by a high-capacity lithium battery. A full charge allows for 80 to 100 kilometers on flat terrain, making long-distance and uphill rides more accessible. A battery reminder on the display screen alerts users when power is low; if it falls below 10%, a prompt will remind users to return the bike soon. When below 5%, the electric-assist will turn off, though regular pedaling and bike return will still work smoothly.

The rental process for the YouBike 2.0E is the same as for the YouBike 2.0. Simply download the YouBike app, where you can register for bike insurance coverage, which is required for rentals. Existing members do not need to re-register.

To rent a YouBike, tap your EasyCard or iPass on the bike sensor, or use the app to scan the bike’s QR code. To return, park at any YouBike 2.0 station post and confirm the return was successful!

Note that the YouBike 2.0E rental fees differ from YouBike 2.0. For the first two hours, it costs NT$20 per 30 minutes (YouBike 2.0 is NT$10/30 minutes); beyond two hours, it is NT$40 per 30 minutes. Usage under 30 minutes is rounded up to 30 minutes.

For fans of the Bone Bike Tie series, the handlebar design of YouBike 2.0 and YouBike 2.0E is compatible, allowing you to enjoy easy phone access while riding. We recommend the new Bike Tie 5, which features upgraded straps that make securing your phone even easier, with a triangle structure to keep it steady.

Next time you rent a shared bike or spot a YouBike 2.0E on your daily commute or long-distance ride, consider pairing it with a Bone Bike Tie for a whole new biking experience!
