Taiwan Lantern Festival in Tainan

The 2024 Taiwan Lantern Festival is set to illuminate the "High-Speed Rail Lantern Area" and "Anping Lantern Area" in Tainan City from February 24 to March 10, marking the 35th edition of the Taiwan Lantern Festival. The main lantern, named "Dragon Comes to Taiwan," stands tall in the "High-Speed Rail Lantern Area" and was named by Lin Mingde, Chairman of the Chinese Folk Art Foundation, and Lee Feng-mao, Academician of the Academia Sinica. The main lantern combines elements of the I Ching hexagram Qian, folk customs, and prayers, symbolizing respect for Tainan's 400 years of history in the Year of the Dragon. It also highlights the international reputation of the Taiwan Lantern Festival, warmly welcoming visitors from around the world.

The 2024 Taiwan Lantern Festival will officially light up on the Lantern Festival evening, February 24 (Saturday). The main lantern will showcase a lantern light show every half hour, and the entire event will shine brightly until the evening of March 10 (Sunday). The "Anping Lantern Area" will start its dazzling light displays from February 3.

The 2024 Longqi Light Festival: Ritual in the Empty Mountains kicks off with the theme "Dragon Fire Residue." Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Tainan City Government and curated by Cao Fei Huo, collaborating with 15 groups of artists to present 17 fascinating art creations, incorporating a new fable-themed curatorial animation titled "Dragon Fire." The exhibition runs from December 23, 2023, to February 18, 2024, at Tiger-shaped Mountain Park in Longqi District, Tainan City, with lighting hours from 17:30 to 22:00 and the last entry at 21:00. Lasting for 17 days, from February 16 to March 3, New Taipei Metropolitan Park will transform into a fantasy lantern sea. 2024 Central Taiwan Lantern Festival

The 2024 Central Taiwan Lantern Festival will be grandly held at Taichung Central Park. This year's theme, "Taichung Dragon Celebration," is filled with creativity and fun. The distinctive feature of the Zhushan Lantern Festival in Nantou is its emphasis on bamboo art. This year's main lantern, "Dragons Soaring in the Clouds," stands at 8.5 meters high and was collaboratively crafted by bamboo art master Qiu Jinduan's team and lantern craftsman Wang Yaorui's team. The main lantern ingeniously uses bamboo weaving techniques to create the overall dragon shape, showcasing exquisite and simple beauty.


2024 Beigang Lantern Festival

On December 31, 2023, the Douliu City Office in Yunlin County held the lantern festival with the theme "Dragons Radiating Light in Douliu, Auspiciousness for Ten Thousand Families" at Pengshu Forest Park. The main lantern for this year features the image of a flying dragon in the sky, dancing among the clouds, echoing the theme of "Dragons Radiating Light in Douliu" and embracing the auspicious image of the Dragon Year. Additionally, various interactive lantern decorations have been added to the lantern area, and the outer wall of the Visitor Service Center showcases a magnificent visual effect of the four seasons under light projection.

The "2024 Fengshan Festival of Lights" in Kaohsiung officially kicked off at 6:30 PM on December 23, 2023, at the main venue of Dadao Park! The "Dragon and Phoenix Auspicious" main lantern was lit up, welcoming people to the event to explore the market, enjoy music, and experience the visual effects brought by light and creativity.

This year marks the first time Fengshan has organized a large-scale lantern festival. In areas such as Dadao Park, Caogong Riverbank, Dongbianmen, Hengsheng Battery, Xunfeng Battery, and Chenglan Battery, a total of 10 light environments and 12 main lanterns will restore the old cityscape of "Fengshan New City" using light, showcasing the diverse cultures of Fengshan as the largest administrative district in Kaohsiung.

The 2024 Pingtung Lantern Festival will take place from January 19 to February 25, lasting for 38 days at Wannianxi, County Citizen Park, and Shengli Star Village. This year, themed "Infinite Light," "Pingtung Sky City," and "Blooming Spring · Cultural Heritage in Full Bloom," the festival features a variety of lanterns, including the impressive 15-meter tall "Dragon Soaring in Pingtung." The exhibition, comprising three major areas, will display up to 35 sets of lanterns, each becoming a must-visit spot!

In addition to the lantern displays, the County Citizen Park Lantern Area will host the "Fantasy Show | River ‧ Moon Time" on the evening of January 20. The 2023 Pingtung Sichongxi Hot Spring Season kicked off grandly on November 17, 2023. The lantern decorations for this event break away from the past style and specially integrate local elements and cultural stories, planning 12 lantern areas. Apart from lighting up Sichongxi and Xuhai Hot Spring areas, there is a brand new "Hot Spring Egg Cooking Area." During the event, various activities are organized, including the "Hot Spring Small Farmers' Market," "Parent-child Movie Theater," "Limited-time Cruise Bus," and "Golden Hot Spring Road Run." Visitors can exchange purchases for souvenirs and participate in lucky draws.

The lantern decorations for the Hot Spring Season are themed "Departure," "Blessing," "Gain," and "Bond." The lanterns light up every night from 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM. Visitors can explore the memories related to the land, spring water, and sunlight through the exhibition route. In the North District on the slope lawn, the "Scenery" section features a light show every half hour after the lanterns are lit. The 2024 Dongshan Old Port Lantern Festival in Yilan started on January 14, featuring a 180-second fireworks show on the opening day.
