As summer approaches, seizing the tail of spring, the author chose to visit the representative attraction of this period in late April and early May - Laomei Green Reef in Shimen, New Taipei City. Embracing the abundant greenery, the author welcomed the waves, symbolizing the arrival of summer!
In Shimen, New Taipei City, there is a coastal area called Green Reef Coast, also known as Laomei Green Reef. It gets its name from the dense seaweed on its reefs, and the vibrant green and blue coastline complement each other, creating a stunning view. This time, the author took the convenient MRT to Hongshulin Station and started from the Family Mart across from the well-known Hongshulin, a gathering place for cyclists. Following the Tamsui-Kelvin Road along Provincial Highway No. 2, passing by famous North Coast attractions such as Shallow Bay, Sanzhi, and Baishawan, eventually arriving at Laomei Green Reef to enjoy the beautiful scenery. The route is as follows: https://velodash.page.link/QD66. The round trip from Hongshulin MRT Station is about 50 kilometers with an ascent of approximately 350 meters. Overall, the difficulty level is not high, making it a suitable route for beginners. However, the North Coast route has a characteristic of constant ups and downs, so both the outbound and return journeys have similar difficulty levels. Remember to conserve your energy for the return trip!

Before reaching Laomei Green Reef, the author recommends stopping by the northernmost blue spot, Misiti Pier, as a resting point. Enjoy some light snacks or desserts while savoring the blue sky and sea with a refreshing drink. After being well-fed and refreshed, continue riding until you see the sign, and you will arrive at Laomei Green Reef!

Before enjoying the scenery, it is recommended to check the tide table of Shimen District provided by the Central Weather Bureau (CWB). The best viewing time is within 2 hours after low tide. As you gaze upon this verdant coastline, you will be completely captivated by the view. Large areas of seaweed attached to the tidal gullies form green waves that complement the sea. With a gentle breeze, the seaweed and waves sway and dance together, as if performing a dance for this beautiful coastline. The matcha-colored carpet extends all the way to the end of the sea, creating a vibrant world. Photography enthusiasts and tourists are all attracted by this magnificent view, eagerly capturing this rare and stunning scenery.

Not only Laomei Green Reef, but also the Fugueijiao Lighthouse is nearby. If you have time, be sure to visit Taiwan's northernmost point.
This scenic landscape is unique in Taiwan and is usually visible from mid-March to early May, with April being the most charming.
